The suburb of Craigieburn can be located just 26km north of Melbourne’s Central Business District. It is a growing suburb that is situated within the City of Hume and known for its parks and recreation. Particularly, the Craigieburn Gardens and the Aitken Creek offers an earthlier feel and open space to enjoy nature.

The Neighbours
For residents of Craigieburn, the median age is 30 years old, with the total population reaching an average of 30 000 people. However, most of the population are mainly young students and families, with the 5-19 age group creating 25% and the 30 -39 age group also creating 20% of the suburb’s population.

The School Run
When it comes to schooling, there are plenty of public and private schools to choose from that are close to home. There are also options for Prep to Year 12 schools that parents and students may want to consider. There are also community centres and programmes that cater from early ages to adults. The Hume Global Learning Centre houses facilities such as meeting rooms, a gallery and the library that could be found within the town centre.

The Commute
The Craigieburn train station was established in 2007 and can be located just 5 minutes away from the Craigieburn Gardens. The journey to the CBD from the Craigieburn line takes 45 minutes and the drive may take 50 minutes, continuing along the M2 freeway. For commuters, buses from the train station are also available as an alternative method of transport.

Shopping for the Family
The main shopping centre for residents is Craigieburn Central, which is surrounded by a number of bus stops and the United Cinemas. It is well-known as a large retail precinct with 160 stores including major supermarkets and department stores. The Highlands Shopping Centre and the Craigieburn Plaza Shopping Centre are also options for more speciality shops.

What’s Going On?
The suburb is known as a hub for sports and recreation with various pools, fitness centres and spas. The Craigieburn Public Golf Course and Sporting Club are great places to build connections with members of the community. In addition to basketball and netball courts, the neighbourhood also provides a bowling club, a skate bowl and a BMX track. A few of the main attractions include the Golden Sun Moth Playground that is known to have a structure of a moth composing of slides, tunnels and climbing frames for young children. It is surrounded by bike tracks and tables for barbeques. The Highgate Recreation Reserve is a well-known place for clubs, family and friends to get together for weekly sports games and community events.
