Taking its name from an Aboriginal word meaning always there or permanent, Killara is an established NSW suburb situated 14km north-west of the Sydney CBD. The Neighbours
The age distribution of the suburb is skewed towards a slightly older population at present, with recent data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics listing the median age of residents as 40 years. Of the approximate 11,000 residents, children aged 0-14 comprise 19.1%, while young people aged 15-29 account for 19.2% of the population. Given the ongoing development of several apartment complexes, it is anticipated that young families and professionals chasing larger, yet more affordable homes will continue to flock to the area.

The Commute
The suburb is largely serviced by the Pacific Highway, which connects the area to the Sydney CBD via the Lane Cove Tunnel. While travel via this route is an approximately 22-minute journey, transport via rail from the local station averages an only slightly longer 30 minutes on the North Shore Line.

The School Run
Killara is highly attractive for its number of highly regarded public and private schools, including Beaumont Road Public School and Killara High School. Lindfield Montessori Preschool, along with a number of other early learning and childcare facilities, is conveniently located within the vicinity of the major school and shopping districts. Travel to The University of Sydney is only a short 30-minute journey, while the Meadowbank campus of TAFE NSW is similarly close.

Retail Therapy
Residents have access to the smaller local stores of Gordon Centre and also the larger selection of retail, business and civic facilities offered at provides at East Killara Shopping Centre and Lindfield Shopping Village. Macquarie Centre and Queen Victoria Building are both less than 25 minutes away and provide a more unique mix of boutique and popular chain stores, alongside a wide variety of casual and fine-dining options.

This hidden gem of the Upper North Shore is host to a number of stunning gardens, including Bobbin Head, a Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
