Taking its name from Samuel Marsden, a Church of England priest and former influential landowner, the NSW suburb of Marsden Park is located 49km north-west of the Sydney CBD and falls within the jurisdiction of the Blacktown local government. Retaining its idyllic country feel in the wake of ongoing residential development, Marsden Park is perfect for young families and retirees seeking to lay their roots in a homely and expanding town.
THE NEIGHBOURS
Falling within Sydney’s ‘North West Growth Area’, government projections anticipate more than 33,000 new homes will be built by 2026. Given that these residential developments are targeted towards young couples and families, the current median age of Marsden Park residents is expected to drop significantly from 40 to 29 years-of-age.
Despite the currently older population, statistics drawn from the most recent census revealed that children between the ages of 0 and 14 comprise 11.7% of the suburb’s population, while young people aged 15-24 years account for approximately 12% of the average 1,008 residents.
THE COMMUTE
Marsden Park is largely serviced by Richmond Road, which provides convenient access to the Westlink M7 Motorway. Via this route, travel to the Sydney CBD takes approximately 50-mins. Although the town is still experiencing significant residential and commercial development, buses are available. Alongside that, plans for a Marsden Park Metro Station are currently undergoing approval. The nearby stations of Schofields and Rope Creek currently provide transport for Marsden Park residents via train to the city.
THE SCHOOL RUN
Given the ongoing developments, the area in and around Marsden Park is now host to a number of high-ranking public and private schools. St Luke’s Catholic College and Marsden Park Public School, in particular, are located conveniently close to childcare and early learning facilities. Prominent TAFEs, including the Australian College of Skills and Education and Western Sydney TAFE College, are similarly located within the vicinity of this suburb, although travel to The University of Sydney and UNSW Sydney entails slightly longer journeys of approximately 50-mins.
RETAIL THERAPY
Residents of Marsden Park are spoilt for choice with the Rouse Hill Town Centre and Marsden Park Homemakers Centre, each located 10-20 mins from the main housing estates. Both complexes are newly developed and offer a variety of popular chain and smaller boutique stores, as well as a mix of café and fine dining options.
WHAT’S GOING ON
As a very family-oriented and community-focused town, Marsden Park offers various leisure pursuits to accommodate an active lifestyle. Combining the benefits of city living with the scenery and peace of the country, the suburb is well-known for its sprawling green acres and its proximity to popular golf courses. The nearby Stonecutters Ridge and Windsor Country golf clubs provide picturesque courses and professional golfing shops, while also doubling as event venues.
Marsden Park is also home to a Lindt Chocolate Factory Outlet, which offers significantly discounted prices and the popular Pick and Mix boxes. The suburb is also situated close to the natural splendour of the Lake Paramatta Reserve and Lane Cove National Park, with both offering the choice of three different bushland tracks to explore.
