The Neighbours
With North Lakes boasting its range of affordable housing and convenient living, the suburb attracts a healthy cross-section of people all of ages. The 2016 census revealed the town population sat roughly at 21.6 thousand, with a median age of people being 32. Amongst these, families, children and older people were well represented. The most common occupations in North Lakes include Professionals 20.9%, Clerical and Administrative Workers 15.3%, and Technicians /Trades Workers who made up 13% of the town’s overall population.
The Commute
The suburb is serviced by Queensland’s two major freeway’s – the M1 and the M3, which streamline through to Brisbane city with an approximate travel time of 40 minutes. The M1 is very easily accessible and can take commuters south to the Gold Coast or further north to the white sand beaches of the Sunshine Coast. The North Lakes railway station is a stop on the Redcliffe Peninsula line, which runs between Petrie and Kippa-Ring. There are also several bus services that run through the town and into neighbouring suburbs.

With a spike in residents over the past few years, the development within the North Lakes vicinity has been sure to include a great host of education facilities so that children never have to travel far from home to receive fantastic learning amenities. The suburb boasts three public and state schools, six childcare centres and a library with information-rich collections as well as a public space for all to study.

The suburb accommodates a giant Costco warehouse, which is one of the first in the Brisbane region, as well as its second IKEA complex.
