Situated in the city of Playford in Adelaide’s North, Penfield is renowned for being a friendly neighbourhood. Located 33kms from the CBD, it is a comfortable oasis for families as well as retirees. Discovered and named after the early European settler, William Penfield in 1856, the town has changed significantly over the years. It was made to be a great industrial zone that housed the RAFF Edinburgh military base. In recent years, more residential housing has been developed within the Eyre estate in Penfield. It boasts to be a family community-driven project that offers generously sized blocks at affordable prices and much more! Here is our comprehensive guide to the area:

The Neighbours
Penfield is home to a relatively minuscule population of 804 residents, making it a quiet and relaxed community for those who love the slower pace. Families and retirees are well represented within the neighbourhood. Though other cultures are not significantly prevalent, Cambodian and Vietnamese families add a sense of multiculturalism to the small population.
The School Run
Being a smaller suburb, residents will not have to travel far to reach education amenities as Penfield still offers both primary and high school facilities as well as a kindergarten and early learning centre. For a wider range of private school options, Swallowcliffe P-17 in Davoren Park is just a short 5-minute drive away. A selection of educational facilities located in Salisbury are also just a 15-minute commute.

The Commute
There are several routes to take commuters into the CBD, with the main route being the Princes Hwy. Main Road and South Road will also achieve this, with estimated travel time being 44 minutes by car. For those opting to take public transport, the Gawler and Belair line will service those wishing to head into Adelaide city. The 451 and 452 bus routes also run within the town.
Retail Therapy
Supermarkets, grocers and butchers are found within Penfield and Davoren Park, just a short 5-minute commute away. The Eyre Village is central to the area and is anchored by a Foodland store. For those wanting more, Playford Alive is a new $250 million dollar project that is expected to be started in the suburb of Playford, located just 9 minutes from the suburb. Residents can expect to find a fantastic blend of shops, cafés, restaurants as well as parks. This is bound to set a new benchmark in urban development!
