Suburb Profile: Pimpama QLD 4209

Sitting roughly in the middle of Brisbane’s CBD and the white sandy beaches of Surfers Paradise in Queensland’s Goldcoast, Pimpama is touted as a new ‘growth corridor’ for budding investors. The suburb is considered as QLD’s fastest growing region outside a capital city, with population rates rising a solid 20% in 2014-15. The town is made up of old farming land which still retains large tracts of open spaces which characterise the suburb’s unique lifestyle. It remains a building haven for many young families who are looking to relocate to an area that is both close to the city lights as well as the sunshine on the coast.

Pimpama is expected to remain a popular residential address for families as the population continues to grow. In 2016, Pimpama was home to almost 10,000 residents with a very young median age of 27. The average people per household is roughly 3, making the suburb a hotspot for young families looking to build their first home. Ten per cent of the regions resident’s are aged over 55.

The Commute
The Pacific Motorway runs through the suburb connecting it with the Brisbane CBD, in which a drive takes just over an hour. The travel time to Surfers Paradise is just 30 minutes. Travel time to Brisbane Airport takes approximately one hour. For those who travel on public transport, Ormeau station is located just a short ten minutes away will take residents into the city via train with a rough journey time expected to be 1.5 hours.

The School Run
The area offers 30 daycare centres and kindergartens, all within a fifteen-minute drive. With the spike in population in recent years, Pimpama and surrounding suburbs are hosts to over twenty schools – both secondary, primary, public and private. Amongst these are Pimpama King’s Christian College, as well as the state primary and secondary school. Just a short fifteen-minute drive from Pimpama is Gold Coast’s largest tertiary institution, Griffith University. Additional tertiary providers include Bond University and TAFE Queensland’s multiple campuses.

Retail Therapy
Coomera Square, located in the Coomera City Centre, is one of the area’s primary retail destinations. It contains multiple speciality retailers, food and beverage stores, and supermarkets. Pimapana City Shopping Center, which first opened its doors to the public in September of 2018, making it a modern and infused shopping haven. Located on Jacobs Well Road, the district is host to major retailers as well as speciality stores, including numerous banks, a food court and a dentist. Australia’s largest outlet shopping centre, Harbour Town, is just twenty minutes away from Pimpama. The centre contains 230 outlet stores.

Residents also have access to a diverse range of parklands and sporting facilities. A much loved natural asset by the local community is The Pimpama River Conservation Area. One of the region’s best-kept secrets is Jacob’s Well – an enclosed swimming area with a number of quiet swimming spots and a small beachfront that is well-known for fishing and boating.
