Situated forty kilometres south-west of the Brisbane CBD, Ripley is a suburb currently developing as part of the western growth corridor project. Nestled between undulating hills and pristine bushland, this area benefits from all the luxuries and affordances of a master-planned neighbourhood. Innovative use of public areas and a focus on wellbeing are mainstays of the Ripley development. This includes a key commitment to every resident living within 200 meters of a park or green space. Given its lifestyle focus, the community is rapidly expanding towards its goal of accommodating 120,000 people.

The Neighbours
With a median house price of just $380,000, the area is accessible to a range of prospective buyers. This has witnessed a broad cross-section of households represented in the suburb. The major demographics in Ripley are older couples (28.8%), established couples and families (28.8%) and maturing couples and families (11.5%). According to the ABS, the area’s primary occupations are trade workers and community service workers.

The School Run
Two government schools are currently under construction in the Ripley Valley. Both are expected to open for students in 2020. The primary school is anticipated to cater for 1000 students, and the high school will accommodate 1500.

The Commute
The drive into Brisbane CBD takes approximately 40 minutes via the M5. Accessing the city by public transport is trickier, with the closest train service departing from Springfield central station. Conveniently, this public transport hub has recently benefited from a $44.5 million government spend to expand its ‘park and ride’ facilities. The commute into Ipswich is considerably shorter at just 11 minutes.

Retail Therapy
The newly opened ‘Ripley Town Centre’ is a shopper’s paradise, boasting a full-line Coles supermarket, 20 speciality stores, a medical centre and a gym. This facility also hosts ‘Minka Place’, a shared community hub that hosts a variety of activities for locals of all ages and abilities. Here, a dynamic program includes fitness classes, playgroups, workshops and social gatherings. There is also a flexible office space on-site.

What’s going on?
The Spring Mountain Conservation estate is located just fifteen minutes’ drive from Ripley town-centre. This 2500-hectare site is an outdoorsman’s playground, boasting extensive bike and horse-riding tracks, 19 kilometres of walking trails and multiple bird-watching sites.

As the heat climbs, head down the road to Orian Springs. Here, the largest lagoon in the southern hemisphere sprawls over nearly four kilometres. The interconnected pools provide a range of recreation spaces for swimmers of all abilities and interest. This includes a beach, a sculpture pool, a toddler’s paddling space and a 50-metre lap pool. The amenity is free and supervised by lifeguards from 5 am to 9 pm in the summer months.
