Suburb Property Profile: Box Hill VIC 3128

Box Hill is a foodie’s dream come true. Located just 14 km from Melbourne’s CBD, the local government area for this suburb is The City of Whitehorse. Despite it being one of Melbourne’s oldest suburbs, Box Hill is turning into a thriving suburb on the move, full of cultural diversity. It is known for its vast variety of Asian cuisine, which people often travel from far to experience!

The Neighbours
Box Hill is also known for its architecture and the hub is surrounded by beautiful trees lined along the street. When walking the streets, you will find a lot of old homes, particularly from the 1930’s and 40’s, which are still in impressively good condition. Box Hill also offers plenty of units and apartments that are within walking distance from the central hub. The majority of Box Hill’s population includes younger people who are living independently, likely attracted to the diverse culture. There are also many couples and families settled in the area because of the wide range of facilities that are offered in the surrounding area.

The Commute
Box Hill is a major transport hub for the Eastern suburbs. Transport services are located under the Box Hill Central Shopping Centre – which includes a major train station, a bus terminal, and 109 tram route that runs through to Port Melbourne via the City. There are also many transport links to different universities. It is also a quick drive into the City, with access to the Eastern Freeway just minutes away from the central hub.

The School Run
Box Hill tends to also attract families because of the number of primary and secondary schooling options that it offers, such as Box Hill High School, Kingswood College, Our Lady Of Sion College and St Francis Xavier’s School, and also The Box Hill Institute of TAFE.

Shopping for the family
The major shopping centre is Box Hill Central, which is located above the train station. It has many major retailers and over 190 shops to choose from. It includes a large indoor market and a food court. Westfield Doncaster, a major shopping centre, is also just a ten-minute drive away via Elgar Road.

What’s going on?
Box Hill is mainly known for the food culture and its multicultural vibe. It offers a wide range of mouth-watering restaurants and shops along Station Street and Whitehorse Road. It is also known for its recreational facilities and sporting clubs, and they also have their own football club, Box Hill Hawks. There are two large reserves – Surrey Park and R.H.L Sparks Reserve.
