Choosing appliances when considering kitchen interior design may not be the first thing that comes to mind during the design process, but is nonetheless, a very important aspect of the final result. When it comes to choosing appliances to suit your needs, as well as the size of your kitchen there are a few things that you should consider.
Consider the Aesthetic of your Kitchen
One question you may as when choosing appliances is whether they will complement the kitchen and existing amenities. For example, consider whether a built-in oven is appropriate for your kitchen – this can be either a wall or under-bench design. Alternatively, a free-standing oven might be better if your kitchen is smaller and requires more space. The colour of appliances can also make a statement in the kitchen – choose from white, black, coloured, or stainless steel products to feature in your space. Consider what suits your home, and whether you want to blend things in with a black oven, or spruce things up with a bright red kettle.
Browse Different Brands
A commonly held opinion is that you should not purchase all your appliances from the same brand. No brand tends to make the best of everything but they do have their strong points. Purchasing appliances from different manufacturers will usually see you with longer-lasting units that are superior to those found in product packages, which may seem to be the more appealing option. Just remember to look into products before considering that ‘matching suite appliances’ are the best quality options.
Read Reviews
It is at this point where you figure out the strong points of each manufacturer. Ratings and reviews can give you a great insight into product functionality and reliability. For example, if you were considering which oven to purchase, in 2017, BOSCH rated five stars across all research categories, including cooking performance, reliability, functionality and value for money. Followed by Fisher and Paykel, BLANCO, Westinghouse and Electrolux with four stars across all categories.
Consider Ease and Functionality
It is important that everything you purchase for your kitchen fits in terms of size and what you are looking for. Think thoroughly about your kitchen design and what might be easier for you when making purchases. You might love a wall oven that takes up a lot of space but if you need to save room in a smaller kitchen you might consider finding an under bench alternative that still fits your cooking needs. As well as the size of your fridge – consider how much space you might need from your fridge and freezer and whether you can fit a single door refrigerator or a two-door American design.
Don’t forget to think about the extras you might want to include in your budget too. This can include a basic to a higher-end coffee machine, to blenders and toasters.
