Between 2001 and 2011 the population grew dramatically, almost quadrupling in ten years with 16,284 people living in the suburb as of the 2011 Census. This number had further risen by 6,000 in 2016 with the small city thriving amongst a population of 22,000. The median age of the typical resident is calculated to be 30-32, falling just under the nation's average. The recorded 6,000 families make up 23% of the overall population and pensioners, just a small 8%.
