Australian-owned Mirrastone climbs to No.4 builder nationally

Mirrastone (formerly AHB Group) has climbed to become Australia’s fourth-largest home builder and the nation’s second-largest privately owned residential builder, following another year of double-digit growth.

The 100 per cent Australian-owned group recorded 3,237 site starts in FY26, up 12 per cent year-on-year, moving from No.5 to No.4 nationally in the HIA-COLORBOND® Steel Housing 100 Report for 2025/26.

Mirrastone was also once again named Australia’s No.1 semi-detached home builder, retaining the position for a second consecutive year after recording 766 site starts, up 51 per cent year-on-year.

Mirrastone CEO and Managing Director Nathan Jenkinson said the result represented an important milestone for a business that began in Victoria more than 20 years ago and remains 100 per cent Australian-owned.

Mirrastone, which includes a diverse portfolio of brands, including Royston Homes, Sherridon Homes, SOHO Living, and others, has delivered more than 16,000 homes over the past 20 years and now operates across metropolitan and regional Victoria, with housing spanning first and family homes, townhomes, investment properties and more specialised housing solutions.

The group has also introduced measures to give buyers greater certainty, including an 18-month price lock and structural warranty.

Mirrastone is also one of the few leading builders that are 100 per cent Australian-owned and is supported by a $1.85 billion insurance facility from the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA), showcasing the Victorian Government’s confidence in Mirrastone to deliver more homes across the state.

Mirrastone's second consecutive No.1 ranking in the semi-detached category reflects its growing role in delivering medium-density housing within Melbourne’s greenfield communities, creating greater housing choice and more attainable pathways to home ownership in areas traditionally dominated by detached homes.

Founded more than 20 years ago, Mirrastone has grown from a small Victorian builder into one of the state’s largest residential housing groups.

Nathan said the next phase of growth would focus on expanding housing choice while maintaining the fundamentals that had underpinned the business to date.

“As an industry, we need to keep finding ways to deliver more homes and support more Australians into home ownership,” Nathan said.

“The challenge isn’t simply building enough homes; it’s delivering the right mix of housing at price points people can realistically access. That requires builders to keep evolving, creating greater choice and making the pathway to a new home more attainable for more buyers.”
