One of Melbourne’s largest former golf course redevelopment sites is set to move forward, with Satterley cleared to deliver more than 900 homes across the former Kingswood Golf Course in Dingley Village.
The 53.4-hectare site at 179-217 Centre Dandenong Road will be transformed into a new 932-home community comprising detached houses and townhouses, alongside around 10 hectares of open space.
Satterley acquired the site from AustralianSuper for around $220 million in March 2024, taking control of a major infill landholding around 25 kilometres south-east of the Melbourne CBD.
The golf course has been closed since 2018.
The Victorian Government has now approved the plans for the site, clearing another major hurdle in a redevelopment process that has stretched across several years.
Around 20 per cent of the former golf course will remain as green open space under the masterplan.
Multiple playgrounds, kilometres of walking trails and nature corridors will weave through the new community, while hundreds of existing trees are set to be retained and thousands more planted.
At least 10 per cent of the 932 homes will be delivered as affordable housing.
The masterplan has also looked beyond the boundaries of the site, with consultation informing a safer pedestrian connection between the new community and Marcus Road, creating a link through to Dingley Village Primary School.
Victorian Planning Minister Sonya Kilkenny said the revised plans sought to strike a balance between unlocking the substantial infill site for housing and retaining its existing landscape.
“We are delivering more homes here while protecting what makes the area great including trees and open space,” Kilkenny said.
“These new plans reflect community feedback as we get on building more homes for Victorians.”
