Christmas season is arguably the best time of the year. And you know what makes this time of the year even better? Decking out the house with Christmas colours and decorations that set the mood for the entire house. Having every corner of your house covered with holiday spirit can not only turn your interior into a Christmas haven but also lift up your spirits and bring more joy to the environment. However, we do understand that with the holiday season also comes a lot of stress – of work, organising presents, cooking, and the list goes on. We have created this simple guide for busy families who are looking to reduce stress this holiday season and find simple Christmas decoration ideas.

1. Light It UP!
As they say, lights are the star of Christmas decoration. The perfect choice of lighting can do wonders and set the perfect mood for the holiday season. Although us Australians don’t experience a wintery and snowy Christmas, having a string of lights around your windows, doors frames, walls, tree (the possibilities are endless here!) and lighting candles around the house can still help set an intimate and cosy mood. Even lanterns with a candle lit inside them are a great decorative piece – simple yet making a big statement.
2. Greens On Greens
Nothing says Christmas decoration quiet like greenery everywhere – and we’re not just talking about it coming from the Christmas tree! Flowers are a great way to incorporate colour and make a great centrepiece for the dinner table. You can even arrange a few evergreen branches in a pitcher or a vase. Another cute alternative and simple idea is to decorate your indoor plants with colourful bows. You don’t necessarily have to stick to Christmas colours. Be as colourful as you want! If you have a fireplace, you can layer and decorate around it with pine and spruce to create a fuller garland.

3. Is It Time For Presents Yet?
We understand that sometimes it is a bit difficult for busy families to try and get their Christmas shopping done earlier. But, sometimes, an easy (and also effortless) Christmas decoration idea is just by simply arranging your wrapped presents under the tree. Spruce up your gift wrapping game by using colour, patterns, Christmas ornaments, etc. It is a great way to bring the holiday fun to come to life in your home.
4. Create Focal Points
Last but not least, and a great Christmas decoration idea is to create focal points. This can easily be done by taking over some shelves on a bookshelf or even an empty wall. You can decorate a bookshelf with Christmas ornaments, miniature figurines and even string lights. Get creative and hang some hand-made decorative Christmas cards on a string and hang it across an empty wall. Incorporate this with some fairy lights and you’ve got the perfect focal point sorted.
