Forming part of the City of Swan and the Shire of Mundaring, Midvale is a Western Australian suburb situated approximately 25 km east of the Perth CBD. With a number of newly opened facilities in the area and close access to the city, it’s easy to see why this town has proven popular with professionals, young families and retirees. Demographics
The age distribution of the suburb is skewed towards a slightly older population at present, with recent data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics listing the median age of residents as 39 years. Of the approximate 1,600 residents, children aged 0-14 comprise 17.8%, while young people aged 15-29 account for 19.7% of the population. With the area’s ongoing residential development, it is anticipated that the demand for land and property amongst young families and professionals will continue to increase.
Transportation
The suburb is largely serviced by Morrison Road and Farrall Road, both of which connect the area to the Perth CBD via the Great Eastern Highway. While travel via this route is an approximate 25-minute journey, transport via rail from the nearby stations of Midland and Woodbridge average only slightly longer 30 minutes.
The School Run
Midvale and its adjacent suburbs host a mix of highly regarded public and private, primary and secondary schools, including St Anthony’s School and Woodbridge Primary School. Midvale Early Childhood and Parenting Centre, along with a number of other preschool and childcare facilities, is conveniently located within the vicinity of the major school and shopping districts. Given the suburb’s proximity to the city, residents are only a short 30 minutes from the University of WA. For those more inclined to learn a trade or undertake an apprenticeship, the Midland Campus of the North Metropolitan TAFE is less than five minutes from the suburb.
Retail Therapy
Residents have access to the smaller and more local shops of Stratton Park Shopping Centre and also the larger selection of retail, business and civic facilities offered at Swan View and Centrepoint Shopping Centres. Watertown Brand Outlet Centre and Carillon City are both less than 25 minutes away and provide a more unique mix of boutique and popular chain stores, alongside a wide variety of casual and fine-dining options.
Local Amenities
This highly community-oriented suburb boasts a variety of parks and sporting facilities perfect for the active family! The nearby Koolbardie Park and Juniper Gardens place the emphasis back on the calm and serenity of nature and offer beautiful settings ideal for the casual weekend picnic. Featuring a number of low-key walking tracks, the wide-open spaces of both parks are ideal for those seeking a quiet retreat away from the fast pace of contemporary life. A short 5-minute journey to the neighbouring suburb of Midland is sure to delight the whole family with a quaint lolly shop, Public Art Walk and the festivities of Railway Square on offer. Enjoy the modern architecture and stunning water features situated near the Peace Memorial and take a moment to appreciate the beautiful rose garden commemorating the lives lost during World War I and World War II.
