The suburb of Parramatta is known for being a major commercial hub, with a rapidly developing film and art scene. It’s located 25kms west of Sydney’s famous Central Business District, and is part of the progressive Greater Western Sydney region.

Parramatta has welcomed a diverse community, with families and young professionals eager to call the place home. The growing population is close to 30,200 residents according to the 2021 Census by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The median age is estimated to be 32 years old, and around 7,600 families have settled in. Private dwellings have reached a total of 14,200 with more expected to be established.

The Parramatta Railway Station caters well to its residents. There are 4 platforms that follow the North Shore and Western Line, the Inner West and Leppington Line and the Cumberland Line. Buses are also operating throughout the area with some stops that can be found on Smith Street and George Street. If you’re driving, you can take the Great Western Highway which then links you towards the Western Motorway.

Plans announced by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment in May this year indicates a vibrant future for the City of Parramatta, which will bring many exciting new opportunities for residents. With 38,000 new homes, there will be plenty of options when it comes to finding the right home for your needs. In addition, around 66,000 new jobs will be created and there will be plenty of opportunity to find work in your area. The Westfield Parramatta Shopping Centre is a great place to go for all your shopping needs. It has a range of clothing stores, dining choices and entertainment options. The Parramatta Farmers’ Market is also right around the corner, where you can stock up on fresh produce and browse the different stalls. Within walking distance, the Entrada Shopping Centre is located on Victoria Road and brings your supermarket needs and local services to one place. There are a number of schools in the neighbourhood, which makes it easy for students to attend school without having to go too far from home. The Parramatta Public School on Macquarie Street and St Patrick’s Primary School on Villiers Street are both just a quick walk away. The Parramatta East, North and West Public Schools are also close by for children in primary school. For those in secondary school, Parramatta High School and Arthur Philip High School are both a short walk or a 1km drive for parents.

The annual Parramatta Lanes festival celebrates food, art and music, and there’s always something exciting happening in the area. You can find iconic live music venues, great restaurants, family-friendly activities and more. You can also revisit history by going to various heritage sites such as the Old Government House and the Elizabeth Farm. To unwind, bring your loved ones out to  Lake Parramatta. There, you can go for a hike, swim in the lake or do some water sports.
