Located 37 kilometres south-east of the CBD, Berwick was incorporated as a suburb of Melbourne during the booming property development in the early 1990s. From Berwick railway station, the commute to Melbourne CBD takes approximately one hour and ten minutes along the Pakenham line. School Run
Berwick is teeming with options for primary, secondary and tertiary education. Independent schools in the area include Casey Grammar and Heritage College. The charm of Berwick is its rustic, small-town vibe. Berwick’s central shopping strip boasts a picturesque village feel. The rambling High street is lined with deciduous trees and teeming with brunch spots and cozy dinner venues. Drop into MPD steak kitchen for perfect ambience and fine food, or the heritage-listed ‘Berwick Inn’ for a killer no-frills roast. For a more intimate dining experience, book ahead at ‘O.MY’ restaurant. Two major supermarkets also operate in the immediate locality. Down the road, Fountain-Gate shopping centre hosts 300 specialty stores. This one-stop shopping experience includes all the major supermarkets and retailers. Currently, the suburb has two hospitals – Casey Hospital and St. John of God Berwick.

What’s going on?
Wilson Botanic Park is the jewel of this suburb. This 39-hectare site is the perfect Sunday picnic spot, boasting 1000 different plant species, ample BBQ facilities and sprawling lawn. Just down the road, the Old Cheese Factory is a 1860s homestead nestled amongst stunning gardens and offers generous play-space for kids. The homestead café is renowned for its relaxed atmosphere and decadent high tea. On Sundays, Berwick’s wholesome character continues with the Akoonah Park Market. This community offers a bounty of local produce, craft and food vendors.
