Listed as a new thriving suburb in the city of Melton, Plumpton can be described as a residential slice of paradise for families. Located in Melbourne’s Outer West and just a short 30km from the Central Business District, the area is a friendly neighbourhood community that is host to a wide range of both recreational and retail facilities. The Neighbours
According to the 2016 census, there were 4,400 people living in the suburb, of this 49.8 % were male and 50.2% were female. The town is known as being very diverse and multicultural. The statistics show the most common ancestries of residents are: Australian 12.1%, English 11.2%, Indian 8.6%, Filipino 7.6% and Maltese 7.0%.

The Commute
It takes an approximately 44-minute drive to reach the city’s centre following the Melton Highway. The Sunbury train line services the suburb with the nearest metro station being 10 minutes away at Diggers Rest. The 476 bus route operates between Plumpton and Moonee Ponds via Keilor East and Watergardens. Tullamarine airport is in close proximity, taking 25 minutes by car on the freeway that is easily accessible.

The School Run
With the suburbs rapid growth in population, plans for more schools to be erected within the township are soon to be expected. Primary and secondary schools, both public and private sit in close proximity with Rockbank Primary and Southern Cross Grammar just 4km away and Creekside K-9 College just 6km away. There are also family daycare and early learning centres in operation including The Sanctuary at Hillside, which is a short ten-minute drive along the Melton Highway.

Retail Therapy
A short ten-minute drive will take residents to the Watergardens shopping centre in Taylor Lakes. The super retail hub operates as a homemaker centre and currently services over 225 business. The shopping precinct is host to speciality stores, banks, a cinema, a bowling alley as well as both casual and fine dining options.

What’s Going On
Plumpton is home to its very own extreme paintball centre, perfect for those who love a bit of high scale fun. If you love wine, then the Gali Estate Winery and Witchmount Winery will be the perfect weekend destination. The playscape at Mawson Gardens estate will occupy the kids for hours and will be a fantastic family way to get some fresh air. It’s also been designed with a major focus on the sensory stimulation that can be experienced through play. The city of Melton has two golfing clubs on offer for those who aspire to be like Tiger Woods and even have joy flights on offer through Melton air services.
