Suburb Profile: Golden Grove SA 5125

Golden Grove can be found 23 kilometres north-east of Adelaide’s central business district. This suburb, hailing from South Australia, is a historical place gaining its origins from Captain Adam Robertson, who named the town after the last ship he commanded in the 1830s. It is best known for its houses, farms and freestone quarries during the early settlement days. Currently, it has grown to include new property and housing divisions.

Within the City of Tea Tree Gully, Golden Grove has accumulated around 10,200 residents with the ratio slightly skewed towards females as they make up 52%. The median age is at 42 years old with about 3 000 families living in the area and 4 000 private dwellings. The 45 to 60-year old age group reaches around 30% of the total population, meanwhile, the under 18-year-old age group makes up 25%.

The Commute
The Chidda and Salisbury Railway Station are both a convenient 15 to 20-minute drive from the city centre. Adelaide Metro has provided a bus interchange located at the Golden Grove Village and multiple bus stops along Golden Grove Road. The journey to the CBD takes around 40 minutes by car and an hour by public transport. The suburb is mainly serviced by the A10 and A11 freeway.

The School Run
There are plenty of potential choices for accessible schools within the local area. The Pedare Christian College, Golden Grove Primary School, Gleeson College and Golden Grove High School are a few of the top picks for students as they are all within driving distance from each other. The Golden Grove Kindergarten, along Bicentennial Drive, is also available for early learners. Tertiary students have a quick 30-minute drive to the University of South Australia or a 40-minute drive to the University of Adelaide.

The Grove, also previously known as the Golden Grove Village Shopping Centre, houses a variety of retailers, specialty stores and dining areas along the Golden Way. There are a few choices of restaurants within the shopping centre that caters to a wide range of cuisines. The Westfield Tea Tree Plaza is also a popular shopping centre that is only 11 minutes away that provides even more stores to choose from.

Golden Grove is an ideal location to unwind and host gatherings with the skate park and Goldenfields Reserve open for all. Cobbler Creek Recreation Park is nestled just between Golden Grove and Salisbury and is a popular destination for tourists, hikers and mountain bike riders. In addition, a raptor-theme playground is also available for young kids to enjoy and a BMX track for adventure-seekers. The Golden Grove football, cricket and softball club provide opportunities for residents to get together. The Arts Centre also hosts multiple shows, activities and events for the whole community to join in.
