Suburb Profile: Salisbury Heights, SA 5109

Salisbury Heights is a suburb located in the City of Salisbury, Adelaide, South Australia. In the 1970s, the suburb was originally established as Castieu Estate by a private consortium. The blocks of land in this area were typically much larger in comparison to surrounding suburbs with half-acre blocks compared to the usual quarter acre block. In April 2017, the Salisbury Heights section was renamed and has been growing since.

Demographics

Salisbury Heights is a leafy suburb lined with native trees throughout its streets. Providing spacious property blocks, this area is perfect for a family with or without pets who want more room than the city can offer. Having a population of 5,184 residents, Salisbury Heights has a buzzing community but nothing overwhelming. Mostly holding families with children and full time working adults, the neighbourhood is well established and safe with affordable properties on the market.

Transportation

Within Adelaide, public transport is very accessible. Multiple lines of the Adelaide Metro runs through Salisbury Heights, making travelling for residents easy. Bus routes for small travels within the suburb are available as well as established roads for a smooth drive.

Shopping For The Family

Within and just outside the suburb, you will find everything you’re looking for. From shopping complexes to small grocers, restaurants and bars all range within a few minutes drive. Salisbury city offers a weekly market with fresh, organic groceries for the locals and other small markets appear around the area on various days.

The School Run

Regarding education, Salisbury Heights is the host of two public schools; Salisbury Heights and Primary. There are multiple high schools in the Salisbury city itself, ranging through private and public. For students wanting to undertake further studies, there is a TAFE campus in Salisbury Heights as well as the University of South Australia.

Local Amenities

Salisbury Heights is home to many parks, sports and community centres for its residents. Very child friendly, most parks have playgrounds and eating areas for family picnics. Just outside the suburb, there are many walking and bike tracks through Adelaide’s reserves and bushland, which are also mostly dog friendly. Being very community-friendly, there are occasional events held within the suburb welcome to all ages.
