The Neighbours
The age distribution of the suburb is skewed towards a slightly older population at present, with recent data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics listing the median age of residents as 35 years. Of the approximate 17,900 residents, children aged 0-14 comprise 20.6%, while young people aged 15-29 account for 20% of the population. With the area’s ongoing residential development, it is anticipated that young families and professionals chasing larger, yet more affordable homes will continue to flock to the area.

The Commute
The suburb is largely serviced by Salisbury Highway, which provides convenient access to surrounding neighbourhoods and the Adelaide CBD. While travel via car to the city is an approximate 26-min journey, transport via Adelaide Metro takes a slightly longer 46-mins. Parafield Gardens Railway Station is conveniently located at the centre of the growing town, with access to several different bus routes also available from there.

The School Run
Parafield Gardens and its adjacent suburbs are hosts to a mix of highly regarded public and private primary and secondary schools, including The Pines Primary School, Garden College, and Holy Family Catholic School. Parafield Gardens Children’s Centre, along with a number of other early learning and childcare facilities are conveniently located within the vicinity of the major school and shopping districts. The recently opened Mawson Lakes Campus of the University of South Australia has proven a major drawcard for the area with students embracing the short 5-min journey to uni. For those seeking to learn a trade or undergo an apprenticeship, the Parafield Campus of TAFE SA is a similarly close 10-mins.

Retail Therapy
Residents have access to the smaller and more local shops of Parafield Plaza and also the larger selection of retail, business and civil facilities offered at Stockland Parabanks. Given the suburb’s proximity to the city, an eclectic mix of boutique and more popular chain stores are also close at hand, with a vast choice of casual and fine-dining options available from there.

What’s Going On?
Though a quieter, up-and-coming town, Parafield Gardens and its surrounding suburbs provide various leisure pursuits to accommodate an active lifestyle. Baltimore Reserve and Creaser Park, in particular, have proven popular haunts with young families, with the scenic views and quaint atmosphere perfect for enjoying a sunny day with the kids. Close to all the activities and nightlife of the city as well, residents need only drive 25-mins to reach the Entertainment Centre and the highly popular Hindley Street nightclub, HQ Complex. Approximately 45-mins northeast, the renowned wine-producing region of the Barossa Valley awaits. With a number of high-profile wineries offering daily tours and a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy quality wine and fine-dining, it’s perfect for a day trip or even a weekend away!
