Home Design With Pantone’s 2020 Colour Of The Year

For the past nineteen years, Pantone’s colour experts have searched high and low to capture that one colour that’s a reflection of what’s taking place in the world at a moment in time. Using colour in our homes is the best way to connect with your interior and surroundings. The colour you choose can not only set the tone for a particular room, but also for your entire house. Pantone’s 2019 Colour of the Year was “Living Coral” a peachy shade of orange that was populated on our social media feeds.

Now, Pantone has announced “Classic Blue” (PANTONE 19-405) as their 2020 Colour of the Year ahead of the start of a new era. A deep blue shade that’s comforting and relatable, Classic Blue is described as a colour that “highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation from which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.”

As it turns out, this simple, dark blue, rich colour is a favourite to use in many home decors because of its versatility. If you are looking for a fresh start and also some decor tips, we have gathered some tips and tricks to incorporate into your home by using Pantone’s Colour of the Year.

An Accent Wall

This classic blue is the perfect colour to use for an accent wall around your house. Whether you decide to paint all the walls or just one, this blue will give your room a rich look and can act as a focal point.

Through Your Furniture

This classic blue pairs so well with luxe materials, such as lush velvets and silk, making it the perfect colour to incorporate into your furniture. A gorgeous pair of chairs, a plush couch or even some upholstered bar stools can make your room feel luxurious, comfortable, classy and also calm.

Accessorise Away

You can show off the classic blue around your house without having to go too big. From cushions, throw rugs and floor rugs to small items such as candles, table placemats, mugs, table cloths (as you can see, the possibilities are endless here), accessorising with the classic blue can give your home a style that feels fresh and timeless.

Colour Up Your Kitchen

The kitchen is undoubtedly the one room in the house where you spend most of your time. However, it is often left plain with hardly any colours and/ or creativity shown off. The classic blue is a great way to add a splash of colour into your kitchen décor. You can go all out and be bold by painting your kitchen cabinetry with this blue. Pair it with a beautiful black marble-top and also metallic accents to turn it into the kitchen of your dreams! If you want to keep it simple, you can still show off this colour through your kitchen utensils and cookware.
