Suburb Property Profile: Ipswich, QLD 4305

Located along the Bremer River, the lively and flourishing suburb of Ipswich is best known as a vibrant cultural destination and for its rich history with a number of heritage-listed sites. Within the state of Queensland, it is situated around 45km south-west of Brisbane’s Central Business District and at the heart of several parklands. It was initially called ‘The Limestone Hills’ and was then later renamed to ‘Ipswich’ in 1843 after a town in England. Surrounded by a number of conservation reserves along with its very own CBD, this upbeat community offers the perfect space where future residents can thrive and connect.

The Neighbours

Belonging to the City of Ipswich, this growing suburb has accumulated around 2,500 people and is estimated to multiply even further in the following years. The ratio is slightly skewed towards females who make 52.8% of the population with the median age at 41 years old. The Australian Bureau of Statistics has calculated private dwellings to reach around 1,085. There are around 480 families with young people aged between 10 to 25-years old, making up 21% of the total population.

The School Run

There are a handful of schools available that are nearby and accessible for students of all ages to attend. A few popular choices include the Ipswich Grammar School, St Mary’s College, Ipswich Central State School and Bremer State High School. Parents won’t have to worry with all being under a 5-minute drive or a 10 to 20-minute walking distance from the town centre. For more educational opportunities, the Ipswich Music and Drama Academy, NY Dance School and Ipswich Kindergarten Association are also within the neighbourhood. Tertiary students are well-accommodated with the University of Southern Queensland Ipswich Campus just around the corner.

The Commute

The area offers a variety of train stations to choose from, with passengers having the option to catch the train at either the Ipswich, East Ipswich, Wulkuraka or Thomas Street Railway Station. The duration of the journey to Brisbane’s city centre is usually around an hour or 40 minutes by car. Commuters are ferried by the Queensland Rail City network, Westside Buslines and Southern Cross Citilink buses which provide regular services. In addition, an Airport Express bus also takes travellers directly to Brisbane Airport. Drivers mainly serviced by Salisbury Road and the Cunningham Highway.

Retail Therapy

Shoppers are taken care of with a wide array of stores to select from and make the most of. The Riverlink, Brassall, Booval Fair and Winston Glades Shopping Centre are all conveniently located in the same vicinity. The Ipswich Homebase, Silkstone Village and the Oaks Shopping Village are other alternative shops to choose from. The Limelight Cinemas and Riverlink Shopping Centre are also just across the river providing even more services and supermarkets. There is also an assortment of restaurants located by the riverside for diners to enjoy.
