Suburb Property Profile: Baldivis, WA 6171

Located forty-six kilometres south of the Perth CBD, Baldivis showcases the best of Australian suburbia. After ambling through the well-maintained streets of contemporary housing to one of the area’s pristine beaches, anybody could understand why the locality is rapidly expanding and why this suburb has developed a distinctly youthful character. A bounty of attendant schools, shops and infrastructure make this ever-growing pocket the perfect spot to raise a family.

The Neighbours

As a growing suburb that benefits from a relaxed, coastal vibe and an easy commute to the city, Baldivis attracts a younger demographic. According to the ABS, the average Baldivis resident is aged between 20 and 39. The suburb has a distinct family-focus, with maturing couples constituting 23.2% of the local population and established couples representing 23.1%. This youthful-skew is well-balanced by a smaller representation of older couples and families, who account for 15.2% of the local population.

The Commute

The ability to easily commute from Baldivis’ chilled-out semi-rurality to the CBD in half-an-hour is a key drawcard of the area. For those commuting by car, the central business district can be easily accessed in 30- 35 minutes via the Kwinana freeway. Public-transport users do not benefit from the same convenience and are required to bus into Rockingham before catching a train into Perth. This will take approximately 1.5 hours.

The School Run

Another benefit of the Baldivis lifestyle is the range of educational options for your child. Most local schooling has been recently founded and benefits from the latest developments in educational resources and pedagogical approaches. Of particular note is Baldivis Secondary College, a co-educational independent public school that aims to equip its students with relevant life-skills through an emphasis on information technology. At a primary level, Makybe Rise Primary caters for students from Kindergarten to Year Seven and are the first ‘AVID’ primary school in Western Australia. ‘AVID’, standing for ‘Advancement Via Individual Determination’, is a pioneering educational program that seeks to build a child’s confidence in their own abilities through vanguard learning strategies.

Retail Therapy

Baldivis Shopping Centre is centrally located on Settler’s avenue and offers a comprehensive retail experience. With a selection of banks, supermarkets, gyms, hairdressers, pharmacies and food outlets, Baldivis residents do not need to travel far to access an extensive range of services and amenities. The centre caters to all access-requirements.

What’s Going On?

Want to make the most of the weekend? Baldivis is host to a stunning array of family-based experiences and activities. The ‘Baldivis Children’s Forest’ is a leisurely bush-walking spot, with plenty of educational resources for children to learn about the local wildlife. Come the warmer weather, centrally located ‘Perth Aqua Park’ offers an inflatable obstacle course for all-ages fun. Of course, Baldivis also benefits from the west coast’s bounty of natural resources. Stroll, bike-ride or swim along the pristine Waikiki foreshore. Dolphins have been known to frequent the shallows and the clear, waist-deep water caters perfectly to young children. Make sure to pack a lunch and settle in for the day, barbeque and toilet amenities are located in the area.
